Zaid Shaat Interviews with Status Fitness Magazine

I was sick and tired of being a skinny guy. I was also tired of being told my genetics were the reason why I couldn’t build muscle. After all, I was just a normal guy wanting to get into shape to look and feel good. At around 19, I signed up for my first 12 months of a gym membership, after a while of hard work I start seeing the results and I fall in love with fitness. I start reading and learning more and it became a lifestyle. I look forward to my future in the fitness industry and hope my best is yet to come.

“Every decision you make takes you in a different direction, closer or farther away from your goals. Life’s a journey, the choice is yours”

Los Angeles.

Personal Trainer.

Fitness goals:
Stay lean, increase my strength, learn more calisthenics and improve my flexibility and balance.

Training plan:
I work out 5-6 times a week. I do strength training, endurance training, HIIT training, bodybuilding.

Trainer philosophy?
Movement is medicine! Lack of movement is the reason why we lose range of motion, not age. The ability to move your body and joints will help you lift heavier, run longer, and decrease your chances of injury.

If you have 100 tokens in total and you could apply them to the following categories, how many would you apply to each?

  • Fitness level: 70
  • Health level: 30

Is weight loss more of a fitness issue or a health issue in your opinion and why?
It’s a health issue. Several medical conditions can cause unexplained weight loss like a disease.

Thoughts on HIIT, Powerlifting, TRX, Yoga, bodybuilding, others?:
HIIT: It is short and quick. A short, high-intensity workout will spike your testosterone and growth hormone, more than an hour workout that pushes you towards more exhaustion than failure.

Powerlifting: It’s a great choice for someone building general strength.

TRX: TRX training will improve total body strength, stability, and cardiovascular health. And all you need is a TRX suspension trainer to train your body weight, get your workout done.

Yoga: It is a total mind-body experience, with both physical and mental benefits. Yoga engages so many muscle groups, from your core to your arms. It’s a great way to swap your weights every once and a while for something different.

Bodybuilding: With the goals of building muscle, increasing strength, and stripping away body fat, there is no better method of training than bodybuilding to restructure your physique.

Nutritional & Supplements:
Nutrition can help enhance athletic performance. An active lifestyle and exercise routine, along with eating well is the best way to stay healthy. I eat 6 meals a day every 3 hours. Each meal contains carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fat.

Supplements: Bcaa, whey protein, creatine, and multivitamins.

Do you prefer to take and recommend all-natural (no sugar, no artificial colors/flavors/sweeteners) supplements or supplements with artificial flavors and sweeteners? And Why?
Sugar is OK in limited amounts and in the context of a healthy diet. There is no harm in eating some sugar. But it’s all about quantity and proportion.

Special skills?
9 years experience in bodybuilding and fitness, ISSA certificated personal trainer. Motivation and leadership.

What do your parents mean to you? What did they teach you?
For me, my parents mean everything to me. I exist in this world today only because of them. Not only that but also they sacrifice everything to keep me happy. Love your parents and respect them more than anyone in this world because they are the only ones who love you purely and truly without any greed, except the greed of your love and respect. They teach me to work hard to get what I want in life, be humble. Discipline is a virtue, remain honest, seek God, value education, express gratitude.
