My journey in health, wellness, and fitness has been a transformative odyssey defined by resilience, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to personal growth. It all began at the tender age of 5 when I immersed myself in gymnastics, honing my agility and strength over a span of 2 years. However, it was my transition to competitive cheerleading with the Flyers All-Stars that truly ignited my passion for athleticism and teamwork. As a team member for 5 years, I excelled as a stunt base, clinching numerous gold medals, including 2 national championships and an international accolade.

Unfortunately, my unwavering dedication was met with challenges as shoulder and thoracic injuries forced me to halt my involvement in cheerleading. This setback, however, served as a catalyst for a new chapter in my fitness journey. At the age of 20, I found solace and passion in the gym, kick-starting a redefined pursuit of physical and mental well-being.

The subsequent years posed daunting new challenges as I grappled with anxiety and battled an eating disorder. Confronted with a monumental weight gain within a short span, I fought my mental health struggles head-on. Through determination and self-reflection, I dedicated myself to combating my eating disorder, bolstering my self-esteem, and reshaping both body and mind. The arduous journey culminated in shedding those 25 pounds, building muscle mass, and reclaiming the athletic physique I once possessed.

Empowered by this transformative experience, I embarked on a mission to inspire and support other women on their wellness journeys. In 2017, I solidified my commitment to fitness by obtaining certifications as a personal trainer and fitness instructor with CanFitPro. Over the past 6 years, I have channelled my expertise and passion into guiding clients toward their fitness objectives across various esteemed fitness establishments, building up to my current role as a fitness consultant at the University of Montreal while also managing my own online personal training clients.

As I strived to enhance my athleticism and rehabilitate past injuries, I delved into self-education and specialized exercises aimed at restoring strength and function. This commitment to self-improvement led me to earn a coveted spot on the level 7 competitive world championship cheerleading team, signifying a peak athletic achievement I have always dreamed of.

Despite the achievement and momentum gained, a poignant accident resulting in a concussion and neck injury abruptly concluded my season, underscoring the fragility and unpredictability of athletic pursuits. These harrowing experiences, alongside the battle with my eating disorder, have forged a resilient and disciplined mindset within me, defining my fervour for success and unwavering dedication to personal growth.

What is your training philosophy or approach when working with clients?
My training philosophy revolves around a personalized and holistic approach to fitness that caters to the individual needs and goals of each client. I firmly believe in the power of customization, tailoring workout programs to suit the unique aspirations, fitness levels, and circumstances of my clients. By crafting personalized plans, I aim to not only help them achieve their fitness objectives but also to develop a sense of empowerment and ownership over their health journey.

Another approach I use is to place great emphasis on recognizing the interconnectedness of nutrition, mental well-being, and lifestyle choices in achieving overall health. By addressing these aspects in conjunction with physical training, I strive to assist clients in embracing a well-rounded approach to wellness.

In addition to the foundational principles of my training philosophy, I give high importance to fostering self-esteem and self-confidence through fitness. I believe that by empowering clients to see their progress, celebrate their accomplishments, and overcome challenges, I can instill a sense of confidence that transcends the gym and positively impacts various facets of their lives.

Furthermore, my ultimate goal is not only to help clients achieve their fitness objectives but also to inspire a lasting commitment to health and wellness. By promoting a balanced approach to fitness that prioritizes sustainable habits, mindful nutrition, and overall well-being, I aim to cultivate a love for an active lifestyle that extends far beyond gym sessions. Encouraging clients to embrace health in its entirety, both physically and mentally, is key to creating a lifestyle that is fulfilling, long-lasting, and harmonious.

Training Plan:
My training plan consists of 3 strength training sessions, 2 strength conditioning/functional training sessions, 3 cardiovascular sessions and one flexibility, mobility and acrobatic session.

I will usually do a strength training session for both upper body (once a week) and lower body ( twice a week, one focused on quads and the other one focused on hamstrings and glutes), which 2 of them are combined and followed by a 7-10 km run so I can work on my cardio as well.  I also make sure to get in a mix of 2 full body strength conditioning/functional training workouts to improve my athletic performance. One of those sessions will end with my third cardiovascular session, which consists of sprints and jogging intervals for a total distance of 5 km. In order to keep flexibility and improve my mobility, I will also work on specific exercises at least once a week.

Nutritional Plan:
I don’t follow a specific nutritional plan but I stick to a minimum amount of protein intake, healthy carbohydrates and fats. I strongly believe in the benefits we get from the quality of the foods we eat and for me, to stay on top of my mental and physical performance, as well as to keep my body goals, I aim to eat 90% of real unprocessed foods. My nutrition consists of a lot of fruits and vegetables, rice, oats, potatoes, lean meat like chicken and turkey, fish, nuts, yogurt, tea and lots of water. I will balance it out whenever I get cravings and will never fully cut out everything that is unhealthy because I want to keep a healthy relationship with food.

Supplement Plan:
The supplements I use are protein powder (with amino acids) and magnesium glycinate.

Do you prefer to take and recommend all-natural (no sugar, no artificial colours/flavours/sweeteners) supplements or supplements with artificial flavours and sweeteners? And Why?
I prefer to take and recommend all-natural supplements because I want to avoid all chemicals and disruptors. Supplements are usually used daily and to eat ingredients that could be harmful in the long run would be counterintuitive to the example, habits and lifestyle I am trying to teach my clients.

What are your long-term career goals as a fitness trainer, and how do you plan to continue growing in this field?
I have a list of long-term career goals. I would love one day to have my private gym (planning in the process) to create a safe space for athletes and everyday clients so they can truly feel a home-like environment and be part of a warm community where they will enjoy spending time. I don’t only want to create a gym, I want to create a place where people are growing, improving, building self-confidence and a foundation so strong that they can use it for any sphere of their lives. I want to create great athletes who will strengthen their mindset and achieve greatness.

Another one of my goals is to contribute to the competitive cheerleading sport by educating coaches and future athletes on how to do proper physical preparation and optimize their potential. There is a piece that is missing and neglected in the cheerleading sport practice and I would love to make a change and get to coach a team or be part of the National Cheerleading Association.

I wish to be able one day to make a big positive impact on people’s lives and to spread inspiration and motivation all over the world. I will keep educating myself, travelling for events, connecting with entrepreneurs, meeting great mentors, changing people’s perspectives so they can see their potential, and helping and giving back to the community I am creating.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you are your best supporter. You understand yourself like no one else can and this is your biggest superpower. Once you find out who you are and how to deal with yourself and control your mind, you become unstoppable. One thing that I love to say is that the sky is not even the limit. Your life can be whatever you want it to be as long as YOU got you. The only guaranteed person to show up for you is yourself. And finally, once you understand all of the above and have mastered your mindset your potential is endless.

What does success look like for you?
Seeing other people meeting their goals because of my help. Feeling that I’ve created a positive impact. Going to bed every day looking forward to waking up the next day so I can go to work and have my dream life. Feeling fulfilled. Feeling like I’m constantly driven by the work I do and the people I surround myself with. Achieving my goals while staying true to who I am and respecting my values.
