Fitness Coach

Can you tell us about your background? And what was the biggest challenge you have faced on your journey?
I’ve been an athlete for as long as I can remember. I was the captain of my basketball team which led us to numerous victories, earning many gold medals and becoming state champions. Since then, I’ve trained in various sports such as boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, golf, snowboarding, and I love activities like hiking and rock climbing and longboarding. I also love participating in extreme races and challenges like the Spartan race.

I’ve always had a passion for bodybuilding and started competing in my 20s. After an 11-year break, I’m excited to compete again in 4 months!

My biggest challenge was physiological and hormonal changes after becoming a mom at age 37. I was tired, sleep-deprived, had zero core strength, and faced gym closures due to COVID-19. After overcoming the struggles that many women go through when it comes to weight loss, my pain became my purpose, and it became my mission to help other moms transform their lives.

Describe your experience working with clients who have different fitness levels and goals.
My approach with clients who have different fitness levels is to design a program that is sustainable and not overwhelming. It’s important to create something they will stick to. Along the way, I work with them on building new habits and creating a healthier lifestyle that will last even after my coaching is completed.

What is your training philosophy or approach when working with clients?
The 3 pillars of my training are as follows:

  • Macro-based anti-aging holistic nutrition.
  • Weight training.
  • Subconscious reprogramming through hypnosis and meditation.

I will be adding a 4th pillar to this which will be blood work analysis after I finish my certification on this subject.

Training Plan:
Periodized training split focusing on strength & conditioning, fat loss and hypertrophy.

Nutritional Plan:
Macro-based holistic nutrition focuses on food that supports hormonal balance.

Supplement Plan:
Varies based on individual needs

Do you prefer to take and recommend all-natural (no sugar, no artificial colours/flavours/sweeteners) supplements or supplements with artificial flavours and sweeteners? And Why?
All natural only. My coaching focuses on a holistic approach that supports longevity rather than quick fixes. We aim to avoid potential harm from artificial sweeteners and food colouring on the female hormonal system, which may include disruption of endocrine function and hormone imbalance. This is especially important for women in their 40s and above.

Please describe the importance of mental health
Mental health significantly influences overall well-being, including physical health, emotional resilience, and general quality of life. That’s why I incorporate daily meditation and sleep hypnosis into the training regimens I provide to my clients, resulting in remarkable outcomes. Over four months, I’ve witnessed clients transform their lives and overcome mental barriers to increased awareness.

If you could ask Status Fitness Magazine Editor-in-Chief Rodney Jang any industry question, what would that be?
What do you believe are the most significant trends or developments shaping the fitness industry today, and how do you see these trends evolving in the future?

Status Fitness Magazine runs model searches across North America including the largest one at the Arnold Classic for the Status cover. As part of the Status family, you will receive a special participation invite. How excited are you for this opportunity?
I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to be part of the Status Fitness Magazine family and potentially be featured on the cover. It’s a dream come true to be recognized and to have the chance to showcase my passion for fitness on such a large platform as the Arnold Classic.

What are your long-term career goals as a fitness trainer, and how do you plan to continue growing in this field?
My long-term career goal as a fitness coach is to continue growing the Shredded Mama brand and to build a strong community of mothers who are committed to embracing fitness and wellness as a lifestyle. I aim to empower these women to take charge of their health and transform their lives for themselves and their future generations.

To achieve this, I plan to expand my reach through various platforms, including social media, online courses, and in-person workshops. Additionally, I will continue to educate myself, stay updated on the latest fitness trends and research, and collaborate with other professionals in the field to provide the best possible guidance and support to my community.

What does the future hold?
What the future holds for me is the first-place trophy in bodybuilding. With two shows planned for this year, I am fully committed to doing whatever it takes to achieve that goal.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is summarized in Napoleon Hill’s quote: “Your only limitation is the one you set up in your own mind.” I’ve realized that while many people wish for things, only a few take action. Letting go of my own limiting beliefs has been transformative for me. I’ve found that setting clear goals, planning how to achieve them, maintaining consistency, adapting along the way, and tuning out negativity are essential steps in manifesting dreams. This process also involved removing negative influences from my life and surrounding myself with individuals who share similar values.

What does success look like for you?
Success, for me, is the ability to achieve my goals, whatever they may be while maintaining harmony in my life and with those around me.
