New Westminster, BC. It is exciting to see the British Columbia Body Building Association Traditional Stream hit on all cylinders. Tested shows are nothing new in Canada, however, WADA compliant tested shows are and the BCABBA has recognized the need to offer the competitors of the province an Olympic level tested avenue where competitors can truly pursue their respective goals against like minded competition.
This was the first year for the 2016 BC Cup, the pinnacle of tested shows in the province. Promoting an event like this for the first time includes a little risk as not everyone that qualifies continues on and competes at the next level. Xtreme Promotions – Dean and Leigh Brandt – stepped up and as expected put on an exciting event that saw well over 60 competitors take to the stage.
BCABBA official photographer David Aboody was front and center photographing all the action for the competitors and as well Status Fitness Magazine. He shares, “It was great to see an enthusiastic audience cheer on the top provincial competitors in the traditional stream. There were some great competitors, some of which I expect to see do well at the National level.”
Check out David Aboody’s photo coverage below and as well as some input by industry expert David Ford as he goes into some detail about a few of the competitors that stood out to him.
Cover Photographer David Ford: I am always excited to see the BCABBA lead the country through various initiatives that benefit the competitors in the province. The traditional stream shows that hard work and dedication can produce very marketable beautiful, aesthetic physiques.
A number of competitors stood out for me at this show. First up is Bikini D Joanna Dziedzic who I feel is one of the province’s most maretable bikini competitors. She impressed me at the Kelowna Classic. This girl is stunning and has enough muscle to inspire many in the industry. I can see her really making an impression in print media. If she isn’t sponsored yet, I expect she soon will be.
It was great to see Bree Hunter on stage again after having a little one. She looked great and posed flawlessly. She definitely is motivational. Well done Bree!
I had photographed Kade Vilio a few days out from the show and the second I saw him I told him he would win the overall at this show. I have been around the industry a long time and have run my David Ford Model Searches in the past and know a quality, marketable physique and look when I see one. Kade has that look and is great for the Men’s Physique division. I expect to see him in publication and advertising in the near future and grow in the industry to become a force. Well done Kade!
Congratulations to Dean and Leigh Brandt of Xtreme Promotions for putting on an exceptional event. They are a class act and always know how to keep the audience entertained. A special thank you to all the volunteers who make such an event run smoothly and to every competitor that stepped on stage this show. You all worked hard and deserved to be on stage. Well done.

PHOTO SHOOT OPPORTUNITIES
Winning a show feels great and is rewarding, however, this opportunity is limited to only one person per class. A professional photo shoot with the opportunity to be published is open to everyone and if you have a marketable look then it is a near guarantee. The above banner shows just a few of the athletes David Ford photographed – already published in 2016. Becoming a printed model separates you from other models. It guarantees you are noticed by peers, advertising partners, company heads, supplement companies, trainers, photographers and editors. Be sure to submit your professional photo shoot pictures to Status Fitness for publication consideration.
